It was a beautiful day for a parade!
Muslim from different areas came out to enjoy the activities.
The parade began with the rolling out a tarp as men woman children police all Muslims made salaat in the street in the middle of Madison Avenue.

After salaat we proceeded down Madison Avenue led by the NYPD honor guard. |
|
This was followed by a host of flags representing many different countries of the Muslim community. |
 |
One little girl was very excited to walk along side a police officer. |

The parade ended at 23rd street where many vendors selling food, books and other goods; there were also a stage and seating where some listened to speakers. |
The mood was very festive like that of a bazaar, people mingled with some they haven’t seen in a while. This was a very good family day outing. While helping out at The Islamic Touch vending booth I saw a woman buying shirts for her little children with sayings “little Muslima” and “I am a Muslim” the woman right there took off the tee shirts the kids were wearing and put on these shirts; proud to wear something to show Islam.
